Questions people have asked owners of the TNW Elegance 1250 Oak TV Cabinet

  1. Lita asked on
    Does this come assembled...
    1. Hazel replied on
No it isn't ready assembled, but it is very easy to assemble, the instructions are clear and very easy to follow and it only takes about 20 minutes.
  2. Dave asked on
Is it possible to replace the legs - for example are they screwed on?
    1. Iain replied on
There are long bolts that connect the glass top panel to the unit. They go right through the side panels (inside the panels so you can’t see them) and then the legs screw on the other end to secure the glass top in place. I guess you could remove the bolts/cut them so you could then fit different legs but then the glass top would move about. Hope that makes sense!
  3. John asked on
Hi, can anyone please tell me if this unit is solid oak or just a veneer cladding .?
    1. Iain replied on
Hi. It’s a veneer but a pretty good one
    2. CHRISTINE replied on
Hi, I could be wrong but as far as I am aware, there is no real oak in this unit at all. I would say it is an 'oak look veneer' applied to a basic wood frame. In various descriptions it says it’s made of wood, which it basically is and that it is of 'Oak colour', which again it is. But in saying that, I have been really happy with the unit - it hides all the cables hanging down behind and you can control DVD & Sky players through the glass in the bottom section. Hope that helps

  4. Diane asked on
Hi can anyone tell me the width of the top shelf? I know the spec says 400 mm but assume that includes the two end panels. Just purchased a Samsung 55" tv with soundbar and having virgin fit box next week. Hoping to fit soundbar on top shelf and box and blueray player below. Thanks
    1. CHRISTINE replied on
Hi, i have attached a photo of the setup we are using and it all fits great. We have a 55” Samsung TV, a sound bar which is 80cm wide x 15cm deep and we have a Sky Box in one half underneath and a Blu-ray in the other, plus we stood phone charger and a hard drive in with the Soundbar.

The exact measurement of the shelf our soundbar is stood inside is 114cm wide x 37.5cm deep. The 40cm quoted in the 'spec' must include the top of the door that opens down towards the floor. You can't really use that 2.5cm of the door top or you won't be able to open the door.

Hope this helps but feel free to ask anything else, i know its difficult buying online. We love ours.

    2. Andrew replied on
I have a 55" Samsung tv and a Samsung sound bar. They fit nicely and there is room below for two other items (blu ray/Sky or Virgin box).
  5. Tim asked on
Hi Iain, thanks for the reply. That's very helpful. Would it be possible for you to measure the depth from behind the door to the back of the bottom shelf? I can see the depth of 40cm in the product description but I'm guessing this doesn't take into account the reduced depth on the bottom shelf due to the door. Also, is there anything inside the bottom shelf that would reduce the usable depth, like a latch on the top to hold the door closed? Thanks. (Sorry for the fussy questions, but my AVR with cables protruding out the back would be very close to 40cm.)
    1. Iain replied on
Hi - depth from front of shelf behind the door to the back panel is 34cm. There is also a vertical divider supporting the middle shelf in the centre that spilts the area behind the door into two sections that are 56cm wide. There is a hinge and strut supporting the door. See photos.

Sounds like you'd either need to not fit the back panel or cut out some holes for the cables to protrude. It's just think board so that would be easy to do.

      Does that help?

  6. Tim asked on
Hello, I had a few questions about this. Any help appreciated.

Can the back be left off the bottom shelf or is it supporting weight? I would like to put my AV receiver in there and more ventilation is better.

What are the measurements for both shelves? Height, depth and width would be good to know; I'd like to fit a centre speaker below the glass top and an AV receiver behind the door, which are both quite bulky.

    1. Iain replied on
Hi -just measured the one I built.

From the floor to the glass shelf : 47.5 cm
The "internal" top shelf (from wooden shelf to glass) : 19 cm
Cupboard height (behind hinged door): 20 cm

Depth and width are on the website.

The back is thin fibre-board so I don't believe it's bearing any weight.

      Does that help?
