1/It takes the weight of the Samsung 78" TV & EXTRA purchase of the nylon webbing safety kit £15 easily claps to the top of the back of the stand or you can screw it into the chipboard; This stops the TV falling forward for safety & saves you smashing your TV.The supplied bolts secure the TV at the top wall mounting holes.
2/With the speaker fabric front I was able to hide my 7.1 Front centre speaker(Luckily my Yamaha Surround sound processor had an optical in for the new TV).But if you have or want a Soundbar it is perfect for it-but check internal dimensions-I think the German company make one for this stand?
3/My last TV stand was COMPLETELY open & let all the dust in-this is open at the back(but I may seal it off?) so still lets the dust in BUT you cannot see it with the front door closed. It would be very easy to seal it at the rear with a curtain, fabric or wood.
4/It is the PERFECT height for the Samsung 78" TV -sat in a chair or even when in the reclining position you CANNOT see your feet at the bottom of the screen.
5/Very important =the 78" Tv does not over hang the sides of the stand so less risk of catching the side of the TV & destabilising the TV.
6/Being a short height it is relatively easy to lift a VERY heavy TV with two 'average' adults on to the stand.
7/The assembly is straight forwardish.
8/It looks Fantastic!
9/It's a lot cheaper than others I looked at.Very substantial/solid for the price.
1/It took me 7.5 Hours to put it together & even slow & steady I made a couple of mistakes(I put one of the sides on upside down & fitted the first door hinge the wrong way);which were easily corrected.I do admit to NOT being "proficient" at flat packs;so you may find it easy?
2/You need some decent space to unpack & sort the parts out & work.
3/The instructions are pictures only no words.
4/I failed to work out how the extra centre bolt for the middle 'foot' fitted & just left it out.
5/It shows 2 small shelves at either side but the lower shelf is too low to store anything under-maybe it's there for strength? It fits just above were the door hinge is.There are no options on different shelf height.
6/The last piece the glass gave me a headache as I was unsure which side up it went?& I was unsure where to stick the sticky pads.In the end I stuck the sticky pads to the top of the chipboard as this seemed more efficient at stopping the glass sliding & as the glass rests purely by gravity-it also gave the option of shiny black gloss up or matt black up.I opted for matt black uppermost to match the matt black sides of the unit.

Questions people have asked owners of the Maja Black Matt Glass TV Stand for up to 80 TVs

  1. kunal asked on
is the stand remote friednly or do you need the doors open:?
    1. Jacqui replied on
Sorry I cannot give you a definitive answer as when I got the stand & TV & blue ray,I put in cold storage all my other boxes=Sky,Virgin,DVD & VHS-also to save £ on standby costs & the 4K TV does not accept Scart sockets.I did put the blue ray 4K player in the stand but for various reasons only used a few times...........& I left the door open as it "seemed" appropriate;as I hand opened it to put a DVD in.Had not thought about it.
However the door is just a frame covered in speaker fabric & I would be very surprised if you could not fire remotes through it.I have misplaced my blue ray remote & have a bad back or I would have tried it for you.It seems illogical the company would make a fabric cover to hide units which you cannot zap-Then they would have left it open?
      IF I find the remote,etc I will update you,OK?
    2. Jacqui replied on
Very sorry for the delay but I have not been well. However yesterday I had to put my Virgin Tivo box back in the unit as I had lost some Freeview channels..............I CAN NOW CONFIRM THAT THE STAND IS REMOTE FRIENDLY & THAT YOU CAN CHANGE CHANNELS & OPERATE FUNCTION THROUGH THE THIN SPEAKER FABRIC.However on the down side of that........I was not sure if I had succeeded to turn off the tivo box & had to pull down the flap & phyically look.Electricity is so expensive I did not want to risk leaving the device on.But if you are more techno or confident than myself & can interpret the beeps & blips? Then you may not need to check...I am not OCD but I like to know 100% if something is off or on.
So hope this helps now,if you had not made a descision by now.
  2. Simon asked on
Can you tell me what the internal shelf heights Are?
    1. Simon replied on
Right & left sides33CM wide & shelf height are 3cm off the bottom=underneath is dead space & 17CM off the bottom=lower shelf has 12CM useable height & upper shelf has 17CM useable height.
Centre section=110CM wide X 30CM high that is divided by two shelves at the same height 3CM & 17CM high off the bottom=useable space of 12CM lower & 17CM upper.
I believe the shelves are NOT optional as they are needed to make the stand stable & rigid for big TV's;so you cannot make the internals bigger by omitting them.
I have & B&W centre speaker on the top centre shelf & there is only room underneath for a 4K Blue ray & a Sky HD box=one on top of the other-leaving space for DVDs either side of tthose & the speaker;bearing in mind the sheves are deep.BUt you could have 4 electronic units on the bottom side by side one on top of each other ONLY if you stack with a thin & thick unit together.
4K TV's have no Scart inputs anyway so VHS is not compatible & you cannot store VHS tapes next to a magnetic speaker.the Virgin Tivo box is a thick unit.
Anyway you have the measurements to work it out now. It's a great TV stand, best I ever bought & has hydraulic dampers on both sides when you drop down the front cover=NB you cannot pile crap in front of it,or then you cannot open it 7 put DVD's or games into it.The fabric does not attract detritus as I expected & is easy to vacuum.Sorry don't do photo's.
  3. Steve asked on
Do you need the front open to hear. It looks like the speaker grill is behind the glass door. I would have thought the system should work with the front closed. Can you confirm this please
    1. Jacqui replied on
The unit is made out of MDF with a piece of glass lying on the top only...............the door is not glass but made out of speaker fabric & MDF frame so when the door is shut the sounds comes out.So you can hide your center speaker or soundbar inside-in fact there is a dedicated shelf in the middle for that.Maja make their own or use anything that will fit.
To conclude front door closed=you can hear the sound.Which I think is a great idea.
