Cookies at The Plasma Centre
New legislation from the European Union requires all websites to inform its users of any information stored. The Plasma Centre fully supports this new legislation.
What is a Cookie?
Another use of the ‘cookie’ is to store your recently viewed products – ever been on a website looked at a few products and then left without buying? Next time you visit our website we have stored the products you recently viewed to help you so that the products are easily found and you don’t need to search for the products again. We feel this helps our customer’s experience of our website.
To enable us to continually improve our website for our customer’s we use a tracking ‘cookie’ that monitors what customers do whilst on the website or at what point they leave the website. No personal information is used in this - it is simply to indicate what % of customers click the ‘buy-button’ or what % of customers choose a certain colour of a product. We believe this type of information is important to help us understand what our customers like and don’t like. For example we could be displaying all TV Stands that are finished in Oak on the first page of our website. Without a ‘cookie’ we would never know if people liked these products or if they skipped past them to look at something else. It is different in a high street store where the store management can easily see if customers are avoiding certain departments as it is easily visible to the eye. Online stores cannot see how many people are on the website or what they like on the website without a ‘tracking cookie’.
We also have 3rd party cookies which are cookies from our chosen partners who provide us with further information. The Reevoo facility on our website is an example of a 3rd party cookie where Reevoo provide us with independent customer reviews of our products. We feel these independent reviews are a much better way of showing our customers what real people who have bought the product actually think of our products. To enable this to happen a cookie is used to display the information provided by Reevoo. Without a cookie we could not show independent customer reviews on our website.
Other 3rd party cookies may show you products you have viewed on our website whilst you are viewing other websites – these are like a reminder of where you have been and are not intended to be intrusive in any way.
Without the cookies enabled the performance of our site and most websites on the internet will be significantly reduced.
If you still wish to change your cookie settings then the following applies for Internet Explorer users:
- In the tools tab on the menu of your browser click ‘internet options’
- Select the Privacy tab from the pop up box
- You can change your settings in there – above medium will disable cookies.
